    Antibacterial materials test

    What is antibacterial test?
      Antibacterial test means to test the inhibition action of some materials on microorganism.

    Anti-microbial test can be divided into two categories, bacterium test and mould test, according to the classification of strain.
    Bacterium test

      Bacterium can be divided into gram-positive bacterium and gram-negative bacterium according to gram stain test. We normally will choose some representative bacterium with steady activity which is closely related to our life and easy to be obtained, stored and activated to test. For example, escherichia coli, staphylococcus aureus, Klebsiella pneumonia, pseudomonas aeruginosa etc.

    Mould test
      Mould grows in moist environment, and then causes the mildew of the products. Aspergillus niger, chaetoomium globsum, penicillium and trichoderma which is normal in the environment will be chosen for hybrid testing.

    Antibacterial test can be divided into nonabsorbent materials, water absorbent materials and liquid materials according to product testing
    Nonabsorbent materials

      Nonabsorbent materials are the products with hard surface such as plastic and ceramic products. Adding certain antibacterial agent into products can make product surface to inhibit the growth of microorganism. For example, refrigerator, washing machine, tableware we use in daily life can be made into antibacterial products, and can prevent microorganism from producing and play a role in hygiene.

    Water absorbent materials
      Water absorbent materials are mainly textiles. Common cloth, towel, hygienic products and other daily necessities have antibacterial products.

    Liquid materials
      Antibacterial agent is the antibacterial components added in antibacterial products. We normally test the minimal inhibitory concentration.

    Antibacterial test can be divided into qualitative determination and quantitative determination according to testing results.
    Qualitative determination

      Qualitative determination cannot determine whether antibacterial properties of the product are strong or weak, and can only determine whether the product has antibacterial properties or not. We usually use antibacterial ring method and Quine's method and so on.

    Quantitative determination
      Quantitative determination is mainly for antibacterial product test, and evaluates the antibacterial of the products. It can reflect antibacterial property by bacteria inhibitive rate and bacterial inhibitive activity value.

    New development of antibacterial test
      With constantly updating and development of antibacterial materials, testing methods shall develop accordingly. Currently, many new materials such as nanometer materials and photocatalysis materials have certain antibacterial property.
