    Germany LFGB (LMBG) Certification

    In September 2005, German new food and beverages law LGFB replaced older LMBG. It is also known as <Food, Tobacco products, Cosmetics and Other Daily Consuming Management Act>, and it is Germany's most important food safety management act, serving as the core of other hygiene law, regulations and guidelines. But in recent years it has also been revised to match European standards. The act regulates, on all aspects, of food in Germany. All the food and all food-related commodities must meet the basic requirements. Food contacting materials must pass related tests, to be consistent with the German <food and commodities law> article 10 and article 31. After satisfying all the requirements, a test report will be issued by LFGB saying “The product does not contain chemical hazardous material.” And ready for sale on German market.
    1, The significance of LFGB certification mark of knife and fork
      The mark of “Knife and fork” is a symbol of food security. For food contact material, if there is a “knife and fork” symbol, it means that the product has passed the inspection raised by a number of European countries including Germany. In European market, the “knife and fork” logo can enhance customer confidence and desire to buy the product, which means it is a powerful marketing tool, greatly increasing the product's competitiveness in the market.

    2 The range of LFGB certification products
      LFGB aims at all materials and products, including the products made with the latest technology, such as: grills chrome plating, Teflon coated cooking pans test temperature, water bottles in the silicone ring test. Usually areas as: ceramic, synthetic plastics, PVC, plasticizers, paper products, leather, textiles, cosmetics, tobacco and so on. Products includes: toasters, sandwich oven, electric kettle and other appliances in contact with food products; food storage supplies; tempered glass cutting board, stainless steel pots and other kitchen utensils; bowl, knife, spoons, cups and plates class tableware; clothing , bedding, towels, wigs, false eyelashes, hats, diapers and other hygiene items, sleeping bags, shoes, gloves, straps, handbags, purses / wallets, briefcases, chair covering materials; textile or leather toys and toys, textiles or leather garments; direct use of yarns and fabrics; all kinds of cosmetics and tobacco products.
    3, LFGB certification testing program, includes:
      Under normal circumstances, LFGB Germany "Food and Commodity Act" article 30 and article 31 include the following test items:
    1. The initial testing of samples and materials
    2. Odor and taste transfer of sensory evaluation
    3. Plastic sample: A transfer component test can be used for detection of heavy metals
    4. Metal: test of composition and extractable heavy metals
    5. Silicone resin: test of transferred or volatile organic compounds
    6. Special Materials: According to German law related chapters for hazardous chemicals

    4 Other testing items included in this Law:
    1. Textiles, leather, polyester fiber and other commodities on use of azo dyes detection.
    2. Harmful chemical ingredients in cosmetics and heavy metals testing
    3. Harmful ingredients in tobacco test

    5 LFGB certification process
    1. Advisory --- Sample and product information provided by the applicant
    2. Quotation --- According to samples provided by the applicant, product engineers to assess, identify test items, and apply for the quotation
    3. Applicant to accept quotation
    4. Contract signed
    5. Sample tests - tests will be conducted in accordance with the applicable standards
    6. Issue test report
    7. Issue a certificate of LFGB compliance

    6, Important modifications in the new regulation:
    - In German law, the implementation of the EU Directive No.178/2002 (food safety requirements, food and catering operator responsibility)
    - Tobacco outside the scope of the new LFGB will be issued temporary regulations
    - With food material, misleading statements prohibitation expanded
    - With food contacting material and products, safety testing undergone no significant changes
