    About fogging test
      Fogging/condensate is the condensation of the volatile substances released from automotive interior parts and materials on the glass. Automotive interior materials such as leather, plastics, textiles, and bonding materials, adhesives, etc., contain some volatile substances. Especially under sunlight, the vehicle inside temperature will get very hot, and increase the evaporation. Volatile gases condense on the car window or windshield, causing poor visibility and would affect the driver's attention and traffic safety; some volatile substances will affect the occupants' health. In order to control the volatile substances, it is necessary to carry out a fogging test for the material used for automotive interior, if the fog value is beyond the standard indicators, the material will not be allowed to be used for car interiors.

      In the 70s, some large car factory in Europe have begun studying the characteristics of fog, in the early 1980s the German automotive standard drafting committee and the synthetic material drafting committee standard together formed the "fogging" working group, began researching the fog test methods and methods of reproduction, and in 1992 released the corresponding standard DIN75201 "Determination of the windscreen fogging characteristics of trim materials in motor vehicles". Later the U.S. Motor Vehicle Engineers and the International Organization for Standardization based on DIN75201, made modification and released ISO 6452 and SAE J1756. According to the standard above, world's major automobile manufacturers have issued industrial testing standards, and proposed requirements for the fogging characteristics of automotive interior parts.
      Through automotive interiors fogging test, materials control of volatile substances are achieved, to effectively reduce car pollution. This has become an important means for automotive manufacturers to control product quality.
      Current automotive fogging test has many domestic and international standards, these standards involve three test methods: the gloss method, the gravity method and the haze method.
